    6600GT or 6800?

I was just going to buy a 6600GT for around £150 (including delivery) - however, on LOW, the plain 6800 is only £170, with free delivery. So, is it worth spending the extra money on a 6800, or can any of you find a cheaper 6600GT?

personally i would go for the 6800 vanilla from low, damn cheap good chances of unlocking and it is a leadtek card! go for it!

the 6800 vanilla kicks the 6600gts ass!

I was in the same situation a couple months ago, and in the end I went for the 6800 vanilla from LOW. It is indeed a Leadtek card, which seems to get good reviews! I haven't had much luck unlocking the extra pipes yet, tho tbh I haven't really looked into it enough to say for definate mine won't unlock.

I think for such a small difference in price, go for the 6800!

    definately get the 6800.

I wrote a large sticky on OcUK (now banned though) about graphics cards and the choices at each price band, and i put the 6800 as the winner in a price band above the 6600GT.

Deffo the 6800, more pipes and higher clocks. More overclocking potential. Also 256bit memory interface instead of 128bit.

    Hi btw Cougho

The 6800 slightly faster and definitely has more potential. My Gigabyte 6800 goes up 400mhz/875mhz from a stock speed of 325mhz/700mhz. Can't enable the extra quad pipe and vertex shader without serious artefacting though.

But the deciding issue is the rest of your PC specs. No point in having a fast graphics card if the rest of PC isn't up to scratch or you're running at lowish graphical settings.

BTW, both cards start dying at 1280x1024 @ 4AA, though the 6600GT kicks the bucket first.

Eh? My 6600gt is perfect at 1280 X 1024 with everything else on max on HL2 (aa, af, vertical sync etc) with 45-60 FPS average, never goes below 35fps
