    Disappointing 3D Mark Scores...

I just ran 3D Mark 2003 (Free Edition) to find out what kind of performance my new gfx card would push out, and well, i am slightly disappointed!

    I got a score of about 1000points with v-sync on and at 1024 x 768. The PC is a 1Ghz PIII, 384MB RAM.

3Dmark2001SE is a much better bm at the mo esp for older gfx cards and systems. 3Dmark2003 will come in more in about a year when DX9 cards are pretty much the norm. With 3Dmark01 you lose quite a few points if using a DX7 card as you can't run the last test. In 3DM03 you can only run 1 out of 4 so it's pointless with DX7 cards. DX8 cards get a hard time because again the DX9 card's scores are inflated simply because they run all the tests. IIRC you get 10% of your total marks for Test1 (DX7), Test2, 3 and 4 are about 30% each. Whether using 3DM01 or 3DM03 bes ure to compare all the statistics for a true impression rather than looking only at the total score. Also consider 3DM03 is almost completely gfx card dependent at the mo, a PIII 1ghz with a top gfx card would kill a P4 3.2ghz with a mediocre card ... not true of current game perf but perhaps that will be more of the way for DX9 games.

all geforces except 5800ultra+ get slaughtered on 03, its not a gd benchmark for an ati thats lower than this.
