Yep, at the moment the best card for your money is the 6600GT, and also, if you buy the PCI Express version, it is SLI enabled. The AGP version is just as capable though.

Lol, I remember drooling over the incredible: "ATi Radeon 9700 Pro", with a 3.0ghz Pentium 4...... Only a few years back. That cards considered medium to low range these days!

For best settings you'll be wanting a card well out of your budget (think 6800GT/U or X850XT). At that price range 6600GT is probably your best bet.Originally Posted by wannabgeek

6600gt agp will set you back around 130-140, afaik they are all 128mb cards...i think the xfx one comes clocked faster than the rest, but nothing you cant do yourself
i have a leadtek one, and it does the job fine. if your concerned about the sound of your system, then the hsfs one these can appear loud, but then im quite anal about the quietness of my system
As i want to upgrade my mobo in near future, either pci ex or AGP,does this card perform better on either one of these formats?Originally Posted by idimmu

not much in it tbh. I got the agp XFX one (128mb is all they do) and its great. wipes the board with just stock settings! its all pretty groovy actually so well worth it...plays most games at a resolution as high as you can get it with no slow-down either.
call me sad but i got mine a short while ago along with UT2004 and have been gawping at the scenery, forgetting to blast away in the mean time, just incredible!
if you've got an AGP board thats still good then I wouldn't bother up-grading just yet. if on the other hand you feel the need to upgrade go AMD64 (939 chip) and 'maybe' a pci-e board, but again I got an AGP board cause I trust the technology and cause I knew what I wanted (MSI Neo2 Platinum), i'm not sure nforce4 is stable yet so went with nforce3 ultra, either way MSI is a solid make and I'v got decent kit in it to last a while so no big probs there....
Pci-e is meant to be 'faster' but xfx up-clock the 6600gt agp enough that its about the same so the arguement becomes rather achademic..

As my Asus Mobo only supports up to x8 AGP will it be ok or rather is the 6600GT card more than x8 ?
Where did you buy your card siato and how much? Someone on ebay is selling SLI Vers for £117 New of course!?

To everyone making a new PC: If you can though, try and get the PCI Express version and a motherboard which of course has PCI Express, as it will give you SLI capabilities.

Would it be worth me upgrading to a PCI-E mobo as the 6600 card runs @ x16 opposed to the 6600 AGP's only x8.What are the future plus sides and is the price difference that much?
