Re: Card longevity question
1070 would be just fine I'd say :) for most games ...maybe not Ultra but hey, 2 years is a long time.. prolly won't run Crisis anyway ;)
Tbh a 1060 is a blindingly good card. a 6 gig model.
Re: Card longevity question
Buying for future is hard, and usually much more expensive than buying for now and updating only when you need to. 1060 monsters current titles at 1080p and 60hz so I'd get one of them now and only when it starts to slow down replace it, by which time you'll get something more powerful than a 1070 for more like 1060 money.
Re: Card longevity question
If you get a VR headset, then the bigger the better. Edit: Though a 6GB 1060 would still do, just don't touch the 3GB one.
Re: Card longevity question
A 570 is faster in games than the 1060 6GB (by a whisker), and cheaper (cheapest 1060 6GB on scan right now, and cheapest not-naff* 570 - an £8 saving!). The 580 is also substantially faster than the 1060 6GB, without being massively more expensive (£28 more)
* not naff: not made by powercolour, who should really get out of the GPU business and into the hoover industry
Re: Card longevity question
Last I looked there were a few 570 cards on Amazon that were under £210.
Re: Card longevity question
Yeah. The 570 is the one to go for right now due to the Freesync/G-sync situation. If the monitor needs replacing you'll regret going nVidia.

Son is upgrading his pc next month but is stuck on what card to get for 1080p 60hz ultra for the next 2ish years
Is he sure he only wants 60hz? 120hz with Gsync would be a much better gaming experience
