whats it all about?
I can select this for playing UT (99) and get 50fps, if I go Direct3D I get 65fps, so apart from being a teeny bit slower why would I want to choose it? do any other games use it, recent releases included?

I believe that Doom 3 uses it.
I also believe that Linux doesn't use DirectX, so many games use OpenGL when in Linux (e.g. Unreal Tournament).
