    Re: What card to get

I would wait to see what happens when the 1100 series come out (if they are called that) I'm pretty sure that most 1060 or higher cards are still currently slightly over the original RRP, it's down from 200-300% of RRP but still over RRP.
Here's the MSRP / cheapest on scan
    gtx1080ti is £679.00 / £689.99
    gtx1080 is £529.00 / £489.98
    gtx1070 is £379.00 / £389.99
    gtx1060 6gb is £279.00 / £239.99

I'd say that the gtx1080 might not be that bad an option, but overall the cost is still overly high from where it should be when new cards come out

    Re: What card to get

Just had a mini dp to dp cable delivered and got my res back to 3840x2160 which is a huge improvement

Still undecided to get a card now or wait, prices seem to be coming down as aot of places are now trying to shift stock
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

If you are undecided, then I guess you aren't that bothered by lack of performance

They are dropping down to retail prices we had before the mining craze and the pound is stronger now.

The best bargains will be when the new cards are just on the horizon. For reference look at the prices the GTX980TI started to go for once Pascal was released.

    Re: What card to get

If you can wait..then wait I plan on swapping my 1080 FE for one of the new cards and I imagine there will be many other suckers like me who are not too bothered by the price and will buy the first crop of new cards, and will be putting their old ones up for sale, so you'll be able to pick up a 1080 for a sensible price then (or indeed an equivalent of the new generation for more). Just need to be careful to buy one off a gamer and not someone who's also used it for mining.

I'll have to keep an eye out for the "for sale" thread when the new cards come out.

    Re: What card to get

I finally got fed up with the awful performance at 3840x2160 and picked up a MSI GTX 1080, i know they are over priced but I got a free game with it that's not even been released yet
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

    Re: What card to get

    What resolution do you play?

If 1080p then the 1050ti or 1060 will do you perfectly fine
If 1440p then I would recommend the gtx 1070 or 1070 ti
If 4K Go for the 1080 or 1080ti or rtx 2080/2080 ti

    Re: What card to get

Just purchased a Asus Geforce Strix gtx 1070, the cost is much lower than the 1080 equivalent, when i compared price vs performance for me the 1070 won hands down.
I,m not a huge gamer but do a lot of motorcycle mx/green lane videos and it does every thing i want a lot quicker than before and never gets hot, think the cooling system on the card is outstanding.
