    HEXUS.beans - World Exclusive Gainward Launch 512MB Graphics Card

    Today Gainward will launch a 512MB 6800 Ultra card, called: Gainward CoolFXTM PowerPack!TM Ultra/2800PCX “Golden Sample”TM SLI-ready. Bit of a tongue twister....

    Gainward have an exclusive SKU just for their SLI 'CoolFX' solutions. They have coupled the 6800Ultra GPU with 512MB of 1.6ns (1.2GHz) DDR3 memory on each of the boards. This coupled with the water cooled units, these cards of course will run on the PCI-E bus.

    I suspect it will not be long until we see Gainward and other manufacturers pushing the 512MB across the board for the 6800Ultra GPU.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    It's only effectively 512MB in SLi.

    Still, Gainward comes up with another (don't know how they can keep the quality going) award winning name for a product...

    Easy - take one Scrabble set. Remove board - oh, and those funny rail things. Throw off tower block. Whichever letters you can find are your new model name...

    It is, but they both hold a copy of the same data so it's effectively a 512mb card (just a lot faster than a single card).

    According to the Inqurier these will set you back €1500 for an SLI setup . But this also means you'd have a combined total of 1GB of dedicated video memory. Standalone cards are expected to be around €700+. Their simply overpriced.

    Their article is here

    ATI also have a 512MB card in the works.
