    Graphics Card Choices!

    Hi all

I'm looking for a new card to replace my now defunct Radeon 9200. I've narrowed these to

Radeon 9600XT 256MB Vivo Retail £96 from Dabs
    Radeon 9700Pro 128MB OEM £86 from Aria
    Geforce 6600 (non-GT) 128MB Retail £90 from Ebuyer

    My system is MSI KT4 Ultra, Athlon 2800+ (t/bred), 768MB PC2700.

    Which one would be best?

    Many thanks.

Ooooh.. thanks, have you seen a review of the standard 6600 (not the GT)

...you reckon this has the better of the 9700pro.. but presumably not the 9800pro?

    Many thanks.

spot on. the 9700pro probably gives the 6600 a good run for its money, but the 9800pro would beat both of them, but is considerably more when compared to a £90 card (£140ish in most shops). i would say it was worth going for a 9800pro tho if you can find one second hand as they go for £90-100

I think it used to be only available as PCI-e but there are a few AGP versions now - dearer though.

Here is another example of the non-GT 6600

So it looks like the consensus is that this would beat the 9600XT and the 9700 Pro?

    Many thanks.

Would these 3 cards be the best ones to go for? I'm thinking of gettign a motherboard bundle very similar to the above. Are there any other recommendations for graphics cards?

for the around £100 category they are about the best cards you can get.

The only other one to look at would be a second hand 9800 Pro - new they are £130.
