Is 600w enough for 1080Ti
Hi All
My spec:
i7 6700k @ stock
Palit 1080Ti
1 ssd and 1 hd
I changed out my bequite 630w psu for an Evga 600w BG
Since doing this, the system doesn't feel right.
The bench marks score i am getting are really low.
32fps on Cinebench R15
1140 on Valley Benchmark.
I have updated all drivers and still not seeing any changes.
Could my PSU be the issues? system not BSOD, ramdom shut down or anything.
All help appreicated.
Thanks all
Re: Is 600w enough for 1080Ti
To troubleshoot your PSU as an issue (I suspect it is not given I'd expect just a crash) you could use your old PSU if you still have it. Connect this to the graphics card rather than your existing one (with the remainder of the system on the new installed PSU) and then try. Obviously if it runs fine then you have a power issue.
I'd check to see if there are any potential issues doing this before trying - I suspect there aren't but you're best checking first.
Incidentally, the GPU is rated at 250W and recommends 600W PSU. Obviously EVGA is a good brand and therefore there shouldn't be any issues with power supply and rails but if you're drawing a lot for say, a whole bank of SSDs or something then you might run into power problems.
EDIT: Also check your connections from and to the PSU and if you have spare cables maybe try swapping those out just in case there's a faulty connection. Also, I'd do the usual and remove and reseat any suspect components.

A 450W PSU is way more than you need for a system like yours:

This is consumption at the wall with an overclocked 6700K. With a brand new 600W name brand PSU, your problem is not the PSU
Re: Is 600w enough for 1080Ti
I use a SFF 450W PSU with my GTX1080 and see typically under 300W at the wall,so a 600W PSU should be fine IMHO.

Thanks guys.
It was the psu, I am using my old unit again now.
Left pc running this morning, went out for an hour came back and black screen.
pc still running but no lights on graphic card, mouse or keyboard.
Wouldn't reboot, not able to find boot drive.
Took out the psu and replace with old unit, everything working fine again including benchmarks.
