New 6800-could Someone Guide Me Through A Softmod?

Just installed my new 6800LE along with the Guru3d 7181 drivers. Iv'e installed Rivatuner as i understand this is what i will need to SM the card ! I Have SM'd a 9800se before which i found quite easy, but this is puzzling me a bit as it is completly different. So can somebody plz guide me through the process as i dont want to mess it up ? Really appreciated!

Can you wait till I get home this evening & then I'll take you through it if I cant find a guide first? It's very easy so don't worry.

If you can't wait then try this for starter's

To try and unlock the pipelines using Rivatuner:

    1. On the main tab, click on the button with a triangle on it with the word customize... in front of it.

    2. Click on the video card icon and then click on the nvstrap tab and click the install button located at the bottom of the screen.

    3. Click and check the boxes that say, "allow enabling hardware masked units" and, "unlock professional capabilities"

    4. Click on the active pixel/vertex units configuration and change it to custom.

    5. Click on the customize button that is no longer grayed out.

    6. You will see a table. Simply click on the table where the missing check mark is for your masked pipelines.

    7. Restart. (you may have to restart at other steps in this process too)

pinched this off someone else a while back, pretty comprehensive guide:

    http://www.ocia.net/articles/6800/6800.shtml

it talks about the method above, fitting an arctic cooler, overclocking and the lesser known batch file techinique.

    good luck

I found this Exellent guide earlier today it gives SOFT & HARDMOD INFO !

    http://discuss.futuremark.com/forum/...=5&o=0&fpart=1

I ran the 3dmark 05 on stock settings with 71.81 (whql driver) and got a crappy score of 3240. I hope it improves with the softmod, if not i will be gutted as i got rid of a ATI 9800se which i got a score of 6460 with 3Dmark05 It don't make sense!

It must of been 646 if it was 05 lol ! Your prob right 03!

Anyways! I have just finished doing the 2 tick thing, rebooted and it seems all 16 pipes are open! So just ran 3dmark05 again and this time a score of 3540 (No Artifacts)! So an improvement of 300, Is that good or bad? I was on a bit of a downer as i thought my ol'9800se had scored 6460! "What a Dick"! So is there another way to improve the score like in Atitool,or is that it ? And do i now revert back to the 8x pipes to prelong the cards life?

Well thats not really that much of an improvement really, pretty evident that a softmodded 6800 doesnt touch no where near GT equivalence.
