Better for triple screens? 1070 or 1080

    Gaming at 5760 x 1080 res.

Would like to have all games on ultra.

    Either
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 GAMING, 8GB GDDR5X, iCX Technology

    Or

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X 8GB GDDR5 VR Ready Graphics Card, 1920 Core, 1582 MHz GPU, 1771 MHz Boost, Twin Frozr VI

The difference in price is £40.

The 1080. Though, in all honesty, you should probably try and get the 1080Ti for that resolution if you want everything on Ultra as well.

The RTX cards should bring down the generation pricing quite quickly once we start seeing some solid benchmark numbers; hang off a week or two, if you can.

People keep saying that every generation but it doesn't happen. Prices of the same cards just decline over time. It's very rare to see large price cuts with old cards immediately after their replacements are available.

Card prices tends to drop a couple of months *before* the new cards are available so that the stock is long gone by the time the new cards hit the shelves.

With the pricing on Nvidia cards though, I have to wonder if they don't have much 2080 stock coming through so are pricing it out of the market for now, specially with so many old 1080 gpu chips to sell.

Re: Better for triple screens? 1070 or 1080

At that resolution a 1080 isn't going to anywhere near powerful enough at ultra settings. At a mere 1440p any game without good SLI scaling needs to be turned down here and there to get decent FPS (speaking as someone who has two 1080 cards in SLI). You're going to need at least a 1080ti IMHO.

Re: Better for triple screens? 1070 or 1080

If the price difference is 40 pounds I would definitively get the 1080 also EVGA has way better support and in general, I would recommend EVGA over MSI any time.

For tripple screens go for the 1080
