    TV Prob

Bought a long (10m) S-Video cable to attach to my GPU to my TV and a 'y' audio cable for soundcard - PC. Both of these plug into a SCART adapter at the TV. The problem is, i'm getting terrible picture quality, with flickering and rough 'edges' on everything, if I change the mode to B&W the picture quality is perfect. I used to use a much shorter composite video cable which had no problems. Any help on how to sort this much appreciated.

That sounds like the effect you get when you plug S-Video into a SCART that's only wired for composite- check that it's actually designed for S-Video. My TV has one scart socket for RGB and one for S-Video, so check you're using the right one if it has two or more.

You get the same effect if you don't set the TV's AV input specifically to S-Video mode. Mine doesn't set itself automatically, in fact it has a tendency to turn itself off S-Vdeo mode which is annoying.

I plugged the SCART adapater into a VCR which is plugged into my TV through ariel, not the best solution but the IQ is better. I can't plug the adapter into the other SCART on my TV, it's too large. Your probably right about them being different. Cheers anyway

I only just found the manual to figure out how to set the mode manually and you're absolutely right . Thanks very much Rave!
