    Good Card

I have been searching for a graphics card.

    I have found:
    Sapphire x800xt OEM £230
    Gigabyte 6800GT £235 http://www.gigabyte.com.hr/VGA/Produ...X68T256DH.htm#

    Is the x800xt better?
    Thanks

I don't think either will be disappointing. The 6800GT might be a slighter better choice because it has Shader Model 3.0, although I personally prefer ATi's drivers.

The X800XT is faster at most things but the 6800GT would be my choice for gaming.

benching mate, some people live for it.

not for me, but some love it.

id go 6800gt cos of sm3 too, it looks sooooo pretty in the games that support it. but remember the high def video decoding is a problem, might not be an issue for you?

A X800XT is faster than a 6800GT. An X800XT PE beats a Ultra, and the XT has slighty lower clocks than the PE, no where near as big as the GT to Ultra % wise.

Google for benchies if you want. I know what card id prefer. SM3.0? Lol people still going on about that?

Or, the benchmarks are weighted towards ATI

OMG, I really dont get this benching thing. Its like the like the school boy "My is bigger than yours"

Is the problem with video only for HD?, as we dont have any of that here.

Im intrested in gaming. If the X800XT is more powerfull then how is the Nvidia better? You mean there are more games designed specifically for it?

Also, Whats the better 6800GT, the one in the original post or this one:
    http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Produ...hphrase=6800Gt

Are there any other red hot deals out there?

Edit: anyone got that old link to the x850xt pe from dell, to see if they have messed thier pricing again lol. all i can find is a 6800 van for £300 lol

I have been looking round the web, and the gigabyte seems good

The X800XL offers very similar performance to the 6800GT with the added advantage that it's cheaper. None of this hardware is future proof and 12-18 months from now it will all be looking pretty average. I would recommend going with the best bang for your buck so as to limit the depreciation in value as far as possible.

Perhaps slightly but the Catalyst 5.6 drivers due out soon will give ATI a 10-50% performance boost depending on the game. Wait and see I shall but looks like ATI are making good with the drivers instead of the usual bug fixes.

You can't really go wrong either way tbh as all the new high end cards offer awesome gaming performance.

ATI has better drivers, but if 3D games are your thing the 6800GT is awesome. Good value and looks great without any driver tweaking at all. I like the stability of ATI's cards and drivers and they bench faster, but the nVidia stuff is better for most games.
