From watching Digital Foundry's comparison video earlier, there seems to be practically nothing in it. The 1660 Ti is a few percent faster in some games, the 1070 in others. It seems to be mostly newer titles with newer engines where the 1660 Ti pulls away though - it creams the 1070 in Wolfenstein 2 for instance (27% faster), and pulls even further ahead if you enable the new 'adaptive shading' option.

Yes, unlike the 1070, the 1660 Ti has the FP16 complex that flies with new games that utilise them. 1070 is only worth considering if the games you play don't use FP16 units and/or large textures/sloppy VRAM allocation that would easily fill a 6GB card. That said, 6GB is still unreasonably stingy, they could have popped another 2 GDDR6 chips on there without much more expense given their massive volume discount.

How many games are utilizing the FP16 at this point? Has this become the norm?

Consider Vega 56/64 or Navi 5700
After OC UV You get some nice FPS out of this GPUs.

Have you considered getting one used? You can get a good 1070 for about £180, and for about £300 you can even get a GTX 1080. If you get one from Ebay you have 30 days to return it for free if there is anything wrong with it.

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

kinda in the similar boat here thanks for a blown GPU, deciding between an older, more affordable card such as ATI RT 580 or Nvidia 1060, Or a more up to current version for more than twice the cost (in most cases) such as Nvidia 2060 Super vs ATI RTX 5700. Budget can, but head won't stretch beyond these.

I can see why people usually say go Nvidia, but with new models due out (I presume) later this year, seems a wasted investment at this point... thoughts?
