Can't decide which graphics card to get

been looking for a graphics card like a 1070 for a while now but kept leaving it to see if there were any better deals.
currently I've seen the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 SC 8GB ACX 3.0 Black Edition for £315.98 and the Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX1070-8G Gaming on Amazon Germany for 349 euros with free COD which works out about £313? not sure if there would be any extra charges on the Amazon Germany one though :S would I be better off paying the extra for maybe a 2070?

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

The 2070 is an entirely different class of card to the 1070. If you need a 2070 then don't get a 1070. Conversely, if you are considering a 1070, don't waste the money on a 2070. You could wait to see what the replacement for the 1060 will be next year if you're not in a hurry.

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

If the leaks are accurate then the 2060 will be broadly similar to a 1070 Ti and in turn close to a 1080.

Again if accurate they are putting the mrsp at $349 which is pretty compelling. The big loss being that it maxes out at 6gb of gddr6 (best case).

As kalniel suggests I’m going to keep running my poorly gtx950 until we have more news for the red and green team...so hopefully we know something concrete soon!

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

    Those 2060 leaks are compelling.
I have the 1070 (non ti) and I am frustrated with the 1440p performance.
AC origins 55-59 fps. same with far cry 5.
Not quite rock solid 60fps with all eye candy on, even during busy scenes.

It does own loads of games at 1440p and my monitor is only 60htz so I'm not greedy for frame rate just for fluid eyecandy.

If I was upgrading from pre 9xx series now I'd be a fool not to wait for it to land.

The longer you wait the cheaper it gets (this is hopefully true now the miners have calmed down)

What resolution will you be playing at? This along with desired frame rate will tell you what's worth your time.
Personally I would wait for the new releases.

Wasn't there rumors of a non RX 2060 a 1160? and NAVI which AMD might announce tomorrow could be good.

There are rumours of a GTX 1160 which will essentially be this card with the RTX snake oil switched off and a mild price reduction. That's probably the one to get as this doesn't have the grunt to provide decent frame rates with RTX enabled or at 4k (required for their new AA system,) in any case.

Yes and according to benchmark by NVIDIA. 2060 will outplay 1070 and almost faster like 1080.

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

The 2060 does look very appealing to me in $349 where you get dlss and rtx. Also very close in performance to 1070 Ti and at times even edging it out in benchmarks.

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

Take a look at the GTX 1660 TI, similar performance to the 1070 without any of the RTX tensor cores. An RTX 2060 isn't going to be able to do squat with ray tracing.

Re: Can't decide which graphics card to get

You're getting about 35% more performance with the 2070, 1070 can be had for around £260 now so it depends if you can justify almost double the price for 1/3 of the performance gain.

GTX 1660Ti is currently best bang for buck right now which is equal to 1070

Except it's not, 1070 is still faster and you're getting an extra 2gb of ram.

You can pick up a Zotac 1070 for the same price.

I bought the RTX 2060 Zotac. No complaints here! Now just need to update my FX8320 cpu.
