I've decided that consoles will be my main AAA gaming experience. So what would be a a good reasonably priced GPU for 1080p in 2019 at least mostly indie titles.

980Ti would do very nicely. Depends whether you're happy buying second-hand or demand brand spanky new.
Mine cost me about £280, if I recall.
Bear in mind that even small indie games from single-person devs might have pretty awesome graphics...
You own a 980 already. If you want a indie gpu, you'd be looking at a gt 1030 gddr5 or if you looing better than that, one of the original rx 560s.
I'm struggling to think of an indie title that won't perform on a 980ti at 1080p. Stick with what you have until/unless it becomes a problem with a game you're trying to run.
3dFX Voodoo 1 with pass through cable.
ftw
that 980 is so old and not worthy of 1080....
[not]
I have the 970 and everything runs great at 1080p with my i5 6600K, so i cant see myself spend any money on anything else for quite a while.
I can see your PC is on the Z97 motherboard, that is plenty fast enough for most games.
The only thing that i think may slow it down a lot is the DDR3 as DDR4 can go up-to much higher frequencys.
Talking about console AAA gaming, well i guess the reason an older PC is still fine is most games now are just console ports.
