Re: nVidia shares tumble :/
As someone whose only interest in Nvidia is the possible purchase of GPUs should I care about the share price?
Does a fall like this mean their cards will likely get more expensive? Or cheaper?

Nothing immediate I suspect, but longer term it's possible that Nvidia have discovered that they can't just up prices all the time.
Against that, the next node is likely to be expensive and they now seem more or less committed to including RTX features which eats into their transistor count.
Re: nVidia shares tumble :/
nVidia now have a hard decision to make:
1) Continue force feeding RTX cores, against the general will of their customers and have reduced profitability
2) Back track, admit the market for ray tracinging isn't mature and performance required is another 3 or 4 years away
It'll be option 1 because, pride and investment to date. Hence it's going to hurt their bottom line and share price for a while.
I see another potential window for AMD to gain market share if they can get the pricing right on Navi

No to all of the above.
To a certain extent, anyway. You would want nVidia and other tech companies to be stable in the long run so that they didn't go bust and could continue to invest in R&D, but share price is not the only means they have to raise cash when required so it's not an especially good indicator - it just means that investors think they can get more return for their money elsewhere.

Excellent, I'll carry on not caring then.
Re: nVidia shares tumble :/
Nvidia will probably just run two lines. One GTX and one RTX. One keeps AMD at bay and provides a use for GPUs with broken RT bits and the other progresses the RT stuff. Either way, they tried to take the wee wee out of consumers and they have paid the price as people like me went AMD out of principle. Amazing part being that the card I got from AMD is still as good as the equivilantly priced new Nvidia cards. Just, but it shouldn't be the case.

You might want to care a little bit. if the share price drops too far, it could make Nvidia subject to a hostile take over bid by another tech company. That may or may not be a good thing in the long run, but it would certainly cause instability in the market.
That said, they would have to fall a long way for that to happen. On the other hand, if you wanted to invest in Nvidia, now could be a good time to do so! :)
