I would say the xfx is your best bet, great bundle and is cloked higher than the original specs. What is the for?

the gainward golden sample GLH is supposed to be the best in terms of performance:

but it is a little more expensive

did you want agp or pci-e?

Personally, I don't think Gainwards are worth the extra money for relatively little performance. Best bet is to go for one with 1000mhz memory, rather than 900mhz memory - cheapest I could find was: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=174171

I was going for a 6600gt until the x800 xl came along. I found that the MSI was best, it had a non-standard cooler and a great bundle. I also found that the XFX was not best, its like the asus sli of sli mobos, it was russhed out, its a good card but there are better.

they've modified the xfx fan so its better than the original 6600gt they released. the newer silver fan version i believe works much better.

My mate has just bought an AGP XFX 6600GT as a stop gap, and is more than happy with it.

    Or for a tenner more:
    XFX GEFORCE 6600GT PCI-E 128MB DDR3 TV+DUAL DVI * SLI Ready
Of course it depends if mobo needs AGP or PCI-E!

I just ordered 2 of those XFXs as a stopgap until I get a 6800Ultra (or 2!) I couldn't find a SLI-able 6800Ultra in stock at the right price anywhere. I gave up in frustration and figured it'd be fun to play with SLI and sell the cards after a few weeks.

The so called OC from BFG doesn't offer much performance advantage, due to the OC is too little, I've seen OC for 10MHz and then they call it OC. Of course they are not wrong, even OC for 1MHz it is still OC, but look carefully before you buy.

I find the XFX to be more for games like us, like the 6600GT AGP they clock at 1GHz while NVIDIA default is 900MHz, that's what I call OC, but they didn't even call it any special names, it's so natural. I noticed them long ago and I do like their slogan (I've seen only once though) For Gamer By Gamer.

I can vouch for the amended fan design as it's on mine Is very quite and temp is below 45C idle, also OC is good, it runs at 550/560 easily via Riva Tuner, would think would go somwhat higher but haven't got around to it as yet, although from what i've read 580-90/600 seem to be possible

Search this forum section [HEXUS.tech-news] for 6600GT - plenty of review links in there.
