If it displays in black and white it is normally set to NTSC you need to change it to PAL. Usually a driver setting, or in the case of onbaord graphics it is in the Bios.

its normally a problem with ntsc output and pal. what card have you got ? it might be listed as 50hz or 60hz on your tv setup screen. you may have an option option the tv to switch it as well?

somethin dodgy with gf2s? i used the same cable and i get color fine on a gf4

reason is someones selling me a gf2 but that can only do b&w as well so trying to sort it ! seems like a common problem?

I had a similar problem, which was caused by the S-Video ---> composite adapter being rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe. I actully went throuhg three different adapters before finding one which had the right pins connected.

What cable are you using? Black and white suggests an SVideo signal going into a composite only TV or cable. If you get a svideo-composite adapter you'll lose quality but it should display colour

Yeah, there're loads Any hifi shop worth their salt will do one. Unless you're using an external amplifier, look for one that has an svideo plug and either twin phono or 3.5mm jack plugs to scart so you can connect the sound to your TV as well.

cool, any idea how much a svid to scart would be?

svids the weird thing with a few holes on the gfx card right? not the single composite one? (sorry i get confused about it )

I got a good quality one for less than a tenner but I can't find the name of the shop I got it from

Svideo looks a bit like a ps2 mouse/keyboard socket. The composite looks like an audio phono socket.

    Some other things to try...

    * Wiggling / replugging in leads ... worth a(nother) try?

    * Drivers from the manu website (eg MSI's GF2, go to MSI's site).

    * Hitting it with a hammer as you can get a faster card with decent TVout for £30.

    * TVtool sw, trial version is free.

    * Try plugging the lead in when Windows has loaded to the desktop, keeping the lead in all the time with the TV/video on from bootup and other wierd things.

A very common problem with both GF2 & GF3 was with sub-standard TVout, the implimentation varied too much and most of the time you couldn't use the better nVidia drivers and had to use the manu's.

Has all the cables you need to plug your computer into your tv scart plug including tv-out and audio. You don't have to use the audio cables of course if you have nice speakers already.
