Have you just recommended a 1050ti for 142 quid?
    Terrible advice. Sorry.

    How is it terrible?
The original poster has a budget of up to £150 but can stretch to £200, so Boon72 recommended 3 different cards, all within budget.

RX570 is a fair bit faster and cheaper than the 1050ti - unless you're a diehard Nvidia fan there's virtually no reason to buy a 1050ti. The RX 570 also beats the newer Geforce 1650.

Again, though, what Boon said wasn't terrible. They didn't specifically recommend a card, they just provided a number of example cards that are within budget...

Apologies for my tardy response! Yes, it's clear I can get by with a new graphics card. Still not taken the plunge, bu tit's in the works

On the plus side, the longer you leave it the better the upgrade for the same money

I also have a 3570k. I went from a gtx 760 to a 1050ti which made my system alot quieter as the 760 was a blower, but I was a little disappointed with the performance increase. I changed it for a second hand Vega 56 which I am currently using which I am very happy with.

Funny you should say that as I'm now eyeing up an ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 Ti DUAL EVO OC at 2.474 DKK or £287/$368
And yes that totally blows my original budget limitation away however I've recently given up drinking fizzy drinks, which at 6 cans a day was costing me 15 Danish Krone, so 105 DKK a week or 420 DKK per month (about £48/$62)

The idea of a jump to GDDR6 became a very tempting one.

That's quite a hefty price. A new V56 costs £210 over here at the moment and performs better

Not available from my preferred supplier, and even elsewhere they are thin on the ground, and at a similar price to the 1660ti if not much higher in fact.

Re: Ageing builder with an aged machine.

Just spotted this thread. Fellow 3570k'er - with 4.2 OC. I've been using a 480 8gb for a few years and I can play anything at 1080p at high (or near enough). The 3570k seems to be able to drive it pretty well. I've got a 1440p monitor and i'm getting by so its plenty fast enough. I do have mine OC'd to 580+ levels but it was fine even before I did that. A 570 would probably OC pretty well so you can save the pennies for later? I'm in a similar boat as you - just kids draining the funds not switching jobs/Countries! Its amazing how long the Sandy/Ivy bridges have remained competitive however with AMD Ryzen pushing core counts up I suspect its days will begin to be numbered for gaming.
    Trust
