    DVI Vs Response time.

All your gamers advice is much appreciated here.
After a Silver 19" TFT screen. My Graphics card has Dvi (BFG 6600GT OC) and would like to utilise this facility. However, it is hard to get a decent 19" tft with Dvi Interface that also has a low response time of 16ms or less.
Which is most important for gaming lads?
Should I use just the VGA and go for the 16ms or less or stick with dvi and be content with perhaps times of 20/25ms max. I intend to play the usual..Doom3/Farcry/Half life etc etc. Again you are truly thanked for any advice.

Check my sig - been using the L90D+ for a couple of weeks now. Only played FS2004 but also played some DVD's - pretty good monitor for the price (which is coming down by the week). Has DVI and VGA inputs.

However, I probably would have been better off getting a good 17" instead. I find 19" hard to get used to as you have to move your eyes around the screen more than with a 17". It all depends how close you are to the monitor.

I'd rather have a decent TFT with DVI as with my experimentation it makes more difference.

No, sorry, I was replying to 'graveyonmychin' and making a recommendation for the L90D+ TFT monitor! I should have quoted the original message I was replying to.

    graveyonmychin:

I'm using the DVI interface from the ATi X800 XT card to the monitor and it is a very good display. I also ran the Nokia Monitor Test program and could not detect any problems with the display. Having said that, i'm still not 100% convinced that the Hyundai ImageQuest L90D+ is a true 16.7m colours although i've not been able to see any problems with high resolution photographs displayed on the screen. The screen coating is matt so there are not problems with reflections.

The surround for the panel is silver but the base is black. PSU is enclosed and the base has a hole to route keyboard/mouse cables through to keep things tidy. Panel can be rotated for portrait or landscape use.

I dont have a DVI TFT and was reading a mag and they wrote about DVI A B(or D?) and I
analogue digital and analogue/digital. DO TFTs all tend to come with DVI I now so no one mentions different DVI?

there's DVI-I and DVI-D. generally, screens have a DVI-D and a VGA. DVI-I is DVI-D and VGA on the same connector, with the VGA accessible via a dongle

Be careful response time is being hijacked for marketing just like mhz was by intel.

The response time is measured for a pixel to change from off to white. Apparently changing from 1 colour to another can be up to 500ms, even on 16ms tfts!!!!

I have 21inch Samsun 25ms (213T), it performs better in games (less noticable ghosting) than my old 17inch 16ms lg. Infact if you can afford it by this monitor its fantastic, I play RTW/HL2/Riddick/Doom3/FS2004 loads and it kicks serious butt. 60fps 1600x1200 full detail (16AA etc 6A) on all games. I havent found a game that I find ghosting even an issue, best bet is check the reviews from as many sites as possible for the monitor u wanna get, this is a better way to judge game performance than pure rt.

    Xerox 19"

I just bought myself one of these :_

    http://www.theglowlounge.com/catalog...roducts_id/547

It is a lovely screen, has 8ms access, DVI and Anti glare toughned glass.

Pait less than this guy is selling it though. I think it was £274 inc delivery.

Personally i think it is the nicest looking screen on the market
