    your running XP64bit ?

Did you get the 64 bit drivers ? I doubt that the error message is random.

    More details please
    It is Inevitable.....

    using those drivers

i found out that its just because the oldest card the drivers support is a 9000, so my 7000 isnt supported - however i managed to blag it into working by 'forcing' the 9000 drivers onto it.. problem sorted, i now have a very slow 3d card running my rig (but its a bit faster than running it with the standard vga drivers..)

    Hi 5lab !

One of the things that we cover a lot in here is 'balance'

I am not saying that you should ditch your current PCI-card immediately...

But, for any kind of gaming action, pairing an Athlon 64 with a Radeon 7000 dos not make a whole lot of sense

There are some very good cards on the market

Here are some ideas (depending on budget) - but PLEASE treat these prices as 'starting from' and 'excluding tax' because (a) I am only doing a quick scan to see who has what in stock right now at low-low prices, (b) some of these offers may not last and (c) I have no idea what tax is like where you live :-
    - 128MB X600 Pro £49
    - 128MB X700 Pro £89
    - 256MB X800 Std £148

I feel obligated to point out that ATI is not the only choice - and - much as it pains me to say - you might actually find a suitable card from 'the other guys' as well

Good luck with your upgrade - whenever you decide to do it !

    aye i know that..

basically i used to run 3 screens and my tv off a 8500 (agp) and a 7000 (pci) - then one of my monitors died, then the whole pc did (inc the 8500). alas my budget couldnt stretch to >£500 this month, so i was stuck with my old pci gfx card for now, until i can stick something beefier in there. When the time comes, it will probably be partnered up to something like a x700 pro, and then i'll get another tft and be back up to my former glory no games for me till then though

i prefer to stick with ati cos i like the quality of the output (i have *nice* screens) and the drivers - particularly useful for me is the 'cinema mode'. admittedly, you stole that from matrox, but they sadly dont make anything worth buying for a gaming pc these days, so i'll stick with ati one of my pcs had 3 matrox cards in it, and the quality was awesum..

Matrox did some interesting things. They actually made a card that supported surround video gaming.

Matrox are amazing at 2D, but since the G200, I've never trusted them with 3D. Personally.
