    Question USB Type C

    Hello,

I have a GTX 970, and am looking to upgrade. Not really looked at GFX cards for a bit so i am a bit out of the loop. What use would a USB type C port on a GFX card be used for?

    Thanks for your insight!

    Richard

    Re: USB Type C

The idea is that it allows a VR headset to connect video and USB in one simple connector. Not sure if anyone makes a headset that can use it yet though.

    Re: USB Type C

USB C is a catch all type of connection, and there are various adaptors available for it.

Right now there are a few laptops on the market that don't use an external HDMI or VGA option (SVGA, DVI, diplay port etc) but have a USB C port that can be used instead. Its probably not a huge deal on a desktop machine but its an alternative should it be required.

    Re: USB Type C

Basically the trend is USB type C takes over many of the connectors in delivering data, display, power etc. For now it's for if you plan on buying a USB-C monitor.
