Looking for passively cooled PCI-e cards

I had high hopes for the Sapphire 9600xt-ultimate, but so far, this appears to be AGP only.

I haven't been able to find a stockist of gigabyte's 6800 or X800 passively cooled cards, and I am not sure if they are AGP or PCI-e

Ideally I guess I am after a 6600gt - since I am aiming for MORE QUIET than Power, but with the ability to play some 3d games

Any leads? If yes, any ideas where in the UK I can find them?

    thanks in advance

These have proven very popular with reviewers so it is not a surprise that stockists are selling-through as fast as they are

There is definitely stock in the world as you can see from this link on CNET

    http://shopper.cnet.com/Gigabyte_GV_...-31300317.html

I have not searched each and every UK stockist, but the first one I tried was Scan and they seem to be carrying the product in stock... http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=174190

The X800XL is an awesome piece of graphics technology to be passively cooled - especially when you compare its benchmark performance to the other options available

Good luck in your search !

    Thank you thank you!
Now can I justify the X800XL over the 6600GT

I am looking to put this in one of either MSI RS480M2-IL or the Foxconn NF4K8MC mATX boards.

Do you think there would be any compatibility issues with an NVidia card on the ATI chipset board, or vica versa...?

I am guessing not, but thought I'd check.

thanks - great help, and that QUIETPC.COM site is fantastic.

    Almost never

Many moons ago, in my previous guise as Head of Marketing for the UK's 'winningest' PC manufacturer, I got hold of the first nForce 2 chipset board in the country

All I had to do was add in an ATI RADEON 9700 Pro graphics card and the first 2700+ chip from AMD - and I had myself a system sitting on top of PC Pro's A-List for several months
