    ATI Catalyst 5.8 trouble

    Hey guys,

    Just bought myself a 9800PRO

Sadly upon installing the latest package from ATI everytime my computer starts up i get the following error message:

    CLI.exe - applicaton error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

This is really frustrating me, i tried removing all the drivers and starting again, but the same thing occurs - any help is much apprecicated.

I get the same. On XP 64 and Pro. I also have a 9800pro.
I uninstalled it, was annoying me too much.

Sorry if this is not the answer...

...but are you sure that you have the latest version of .NET installed ?

Try clearing out the ATI drivers altogether (DriverCleaner etc) - make sure you have the latest version fo .NET installed - then install 5.8

Let me know if that does not work

Have you both installed .NET framework first?

Cheers, at work at the moment, but will try when i get home.

I'll use the driver cleaner as well - even though I havn't had ATI card in there before, and i cleaned all the Nvidia stuff.

Is this the correct link for the .Net framework?

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

    Thanks guys,

Yes that's the correct one and then this in the link for the update or you can just use Windows update from the start menu.

Yeah it works. I used to have the same problems. Then I went to the ati website and it says you need the latest Microsoft.NET files. There on the website and it fixed everything.

Yep, I had the same prob after RMAing a 9600 with dodgy memory after a long fight with the supplier I got a 9800pro instead. Fitted it in and no go. Was about to give up on the whole thing when I read about the .net prob on a forum somewhere and sorted it out nicely

the CCC (or Catalyst Control centre) version of drivers require Microsoft.NET version 1.1. & above-it says that on the ati site

if you got the drivers on a disc, then Ati should have supplied Microsoft.NET v1.1 with it
