The X9150XTX is also memorable as an expensive landmark GPU for me. Lots of performance but the cooler it came with was loud like a dustbuster under load until I replaced the cooler with an Arctic Cooling Accelero X2 which worked well but was memorable for me for my trepidation about voiding the warranty on some brand new and expensive hardware. Worth it though.

Re: What is your most fondly remembered GPU that you have previously owned?

For me it has to be the NVIDIA 8800GT. It was my first ever GPU, aside from an 8400GS that I'd bought a few months earlier because I didn't know the importance of a more powerful GPU.

I have vivid memories of playing Crysis on it on a 1280 x 1024 CRT monitor. Loved that card!

Radeon 9800 Pro. Was my second ever graphics card and replaced some ageing NVidia card in the first PC I ever bought (second hand) so was my first GPU upgrade. Fondly remember being astonished how much faster it was and how much higher I could run the detail settings in games. Good times

I think mine has to be the Nvidia 4600Ti. Saved for ages to buy that back in the day when Game was an OK retailer in the UK and you could go there and buy GPUs...

Remmeber getting that and suddenly being able to play Medal of Honour Allied Assult and BF1942 on max settings.

I remember game. RIP. Bought most of my current collection there over the years.

BF1942 was great fun. First online MP I really got into. Graphics are awful now but still have the discs - multiple sets we bought for a LAN party! Was a lot of fun that one.

I loved the 3dFX I had, was my first jump into real gaming, after that I had a GeForce 256DDR which cost about £220, them were the days...

The 5850, at the time it was amazing performance for the price (paid £220).

Re: What is your most fondly remembered GPU that you have previously owned?

The MSI R7850 Twin Frozr OC 2GB (£179.99) Overclocking beast! 900mhz(normal was 860mhz) overclocked to 1250mhz, I managed to buy a second on ebay for £50 (new) for CF, I had great fun trying to get them working smoothly! but when it worked it was great!

A mention for the RX 580 8GB Pulse, great card, paid £123 for it new! it's been a great card for 1080p/60fps

Re: What is your most fondly remembered GPU that you have previously owned?

My PC graphics card progression was as follows (memorable ones are bold):
    Cirrus Logic 5426 1MB VLB > Videologic Graphicstar 600 2.25MB > Graphicstar 600+PowerVR Apocalypse 3Dx > Matrox G100 AGP+Apocalypse3Dx+Orchid Righteous 3dfx > Matrox G100+Voodoo 2 > Voodoo3 3000 > GeForce 2 > GeForce 4400Ti > GeForce 5700 > GeForce 6800 AGP > GeForce GT240 > GeForce GTX560Ti > GeForce GTX980Ti

I always felt that the Apocalypse 3Dx was far superior to the original 3dfx, but I ended up getting the 3dfx as well because it supported more games. I used to get some weird looks for having three graphics cards :-D
The GeForce 2 was nice, but it didn't feel as big a step up from the Voodoo 3 as the V2 did from the V2. That's a very subjective assessment, on raw benchmarks it was bigger than it felt.
The 4400Ti was a big step from the GF2, but the 5700, 6800, & GT240 gelt like small increments.
The GTX560Ti and GTX980Ti were both huge, and therefore very memorable steps

    I ran at 800x600 on a 15" CTR until I got the GeForce 2, then I switched to 1024x768 on a 17" CRT
When I got my GTX560Ti (I really loved that card!) I also got a 1280x1024 LCD. It wasn't until 2013 that I got a 1080p panel and I'm still using that now.

    ATI 9700 Pro..
Was pretty top of the range card, and lasted for about 4 years before starting to struggle.
