AMD 7850 - That was my first GPU and lasted well for many years!

So many through the years, but the one I will always remember was the Radeon 9800 Pro - the improvement in AA that brought to the table was unbelievable.

A close second was a Sapphire X800XT GTO2 which could be unlocked to a X850XT PE (33% core increase) + overclock = near 50% performance increase from stock!

I'm changing my vote to my Rx480, not because it was good but because its the only PC component I've managed to sell for more than I paid for it.

Haha, today's GPU market is crazy. I paid £157 for my current RX480 back in 2017.

MX440? Yeah it was trash, but it replaced the even-trashier OpenChrome IGP in my Asus board (A7V8X-X + Athlon XP 1700) and I could finally have wobbly windows. I started with Linux when Compiz/Beryl was on its heyday. Things were uneventful after that.

Not sure if it qualifies as a GPU by modern standards, but I still remember the "wow" factor of the graphics on the Commodore Amiga systems - back in the days when PCs had just arrived, and 16 colours was a lot, seeing something that could do relatively decent photos with its Hold-And-Modify mode (I think it allowed something like 4096 colours, but took a couple of pixels for some changes (you could modify R,G, or B) was hugely impressive.

Then PCs got their act together and 16 bit and 24 bit colour arrived, and things started to move towards modern displays

For a "proper" GPU, I'm still using my old Geforce 550ti. It still runs old games acceptably - but now I'm looking to upgrade nothing decent seems to be available at the moment .

I'd have to say the Radeon 7870, it played Mass Effect at 60 FPS when equivalent Nvidia cards were struggling a bit.

Ofc, the Radeon 9800 Pro, it was a classic.

    Hard to call.

It's between the ATI Radeon X1950 XTX and the Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 (of which I had two running in Crossfire).

My previous card was a 1080 ti, what a trooper. Survived the 2018 crypto mining boom, was still going strong post-20 series launch, and I reckon it could still hold out today, if I kept it over upgrading to a 3080
