It's huge. Who wants to touch it?

    Got my new TFT today.

Dell 2001FP 20.1" 1600x1200 TFT with VGA, DVI, Composite & S-Video in and a USB hub.

Words cannot express just how wonderful this thing is. I ordered it late on Monday night for £385, it arrived this morning.

    And by god, it's HUGE.

It really is a masterpiece. When its creation was announced, a small village in Malawi simultaneously fell to its knees and wept at the proof of a god. When the price fell to a derisory £385, a wave of euphoria was felt throughout the globe by every man, woman, child, and weasel.

It's a masterwork of the highest order. Delivery was not only prompt (dell.co.uk said 5-7 days, it came in 2, if you count 11pm ordering as a full day), but they phoned me 12 hours after I placed the order to arrange a delivery time most convenient for me.

Ladies and gents, Dell have done rather well.

I want to order this monitor, will my 9800 pro be good enough to support it?

Also do dell deliver to a different address other than the card holder, I am at my uni house and my credit cards are registerd to my house in London.

What's the response time like? Ie, is it any good for gaming? I was under the impression that TFT's with high res came into ridiculous prices for decent gaming quality?

i have no idea yet, to be honest.

infact, i shall hook the gamecube up to it right now & try.

edit: suitable for defeating donkey kong, though i'm tired & have had a beer, so i'm probaly not at the peak of twitch gamery

    Thumbs up

Same panel as my Philips 200P4SS.

16ms SuperIPS, 1600x1200, awesome for games. IMO, of course.

16ms response -- fine for gaming. I have the Viewsonic VP201b --- which uses the exact same panel as the 2001fp. Depends what you consider ridiculous -- I paid about 950$ for mine back in the day (about a year ago).

    How disappointing!

When I read the thread title "It's huge, Who wants to touch it?" I thought it was a porno link, only to discover it's only about a monitor.

I have it's smaller sibling, the 1704FPW, which is beautiful. I'll either get another one of these, or palm it off on someone else and get the 20" wide panel at some point in the future.

I`ve got the 2001 and the 2005 side by side and use the pip and pbp a lot.
The res on the 2001 at 1620x1200 is superb and magic for those big screen games and amply fast enough whereas the 2005 seems a bit squashed but superb if you want to put 2 full screens side by side for picture/video editing.
I`ve just ordered another 2005 but not sure if it`ll fit even my huge round the corner desk but I couldn`t resist the new price (also £385 but I got 2 with a small discount and have a buyer for the other) which may be email notification only.
Anybody want one better ring up and HAGGLE a bit cos they`re going fast and they aren`t holding the offer for too long this time (so I was told).
I was going for the 2405 but the price will likely come down by the time my pocket money gets reinstated. Now that one IS huge.
