    AMD-Vi

Does anyone know anything about AMD-Vi, which I understand to be the AMD version of the IOMMU, used to link the GPU to the CPU?

It's throwing an issue up with my Linux install, which throws a wobbly at boot because it has an AMD-Vi 'completion-wait loop timeout'.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of this as the IOMMU, which must be integrated as part of the PCIe4.0 link between the GPU and the CPU, seems a fairly fundamental component of the PC. On the otherhand, is this a GPU issue? I have a PowerColor RX5700 flashed to be an XT.

    Any ideas, please?

    Re: AMD-Vi

OK, so I've found my answer.

AMD-Vi is nothing to do with the GPU, it is the proprietory AMD Input Output Memeory Management Unit which manages date going to and from the CPU.

I found via a Linux Mint forum that all I needed to do was disable IOMMU in the BIOS, which resolved the Linux issue I had.
