    Msi Rx800xt-vtd256e

    Hi,

    I have the following system:

    proccessor: Intel p4 LGA775 3.60GHz
    mother board: Asus P5 925XE-Deluxe
    ram: 2x 512MG 533MHz Kingston DDR dual
    VGA: MSI RX800XT-VTD256E
    +HDD/CDR/DVD
    +PSU flower power 460Watt 4fans, plus another 6 fans in the case (thermaltake)

    When i use this to play games it is working at a very low standart. In games such as Half-Life Counter-Strike i get fps drops from 100 to 20-30. These are not constant but happen often. I dont think that the VGA is nto so powerfull to support a simple graphics game like this. I am using the latest ATI drvers from the site and they are all set to defaults.

    I hope someone would be kind enough to help me out cuz this system should be alot more powerfull then what im getting.

    Thanks in advance and

    Don't just worry about graphics drivers - worry about motherboard and sound drivers too, as they can also greatly impact framerates. Also if you have anything in the background that might be using up resources, kill it.
    PHP Code:

    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I cannot see why this is happening. I do not think it can be the graphics card to blame. It could possibly be due to the hard disk being accessed or similar. When the FPS drops, now long does it drop for? Also does it coincide with anything such as sound / HDD action? Also do u get this problem in all games or just CS. I.e. CS is an old game now, are we talking the original or the HL2 Source version

    I had this, not with a MSI card, but when playing HL2 I got massive frame drops on my card, it turned out it was the check for mail every 5 minutes in outlook, try the game from a fresh boot with nothing else loaded i.e. close down every unneccessary app like Kez suggested...
