best thing to clean crt screen

searched for other threads on this which suggested window cleaner, furniture polish, baby wipes etc.

Also noticed some warned about being careful what is used to prevent damage to anti-glare coating.

What is the best and safest thing to clean the screen with as mine is very visably filthy. The small wipes you can get I'd prob rather avoid only for the reason I have a 21" screen so it would take quite a few to clean it off. It also needs to be able to get through the layers of muck that have built up as have not cleaned it since purchase 2+ years ago.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Walk into PC World - find a bod - ask him/her where the anti-static computer screen cleaner is. Purchase. Spray either (in small amounts) directly on to the screen or onto a clean, lint free duster and wipe the screen. May need two goes to get it clean if 2+ years of gunk have built up.

I think places like Staples do anti-static screen cleaner too. Maplins must do it I'm sure.

Just incase those highly trained chimps at PCW can't locate the right isle.

Office World will do it aswell but I've a feeling that those primates who do well at PCW get promoted up the chain to OW.

P.S. I once went for an interview at PCW and didn't get the job. (I needed cash fast after uni) They said I was too bright and wouldn't fit in!

Are you sure it was PCW, that sounds like the Adult Bookstore I go to?

All you really need to clean a CRT monitor is some luke-warm soapy water.

Nothing harsh with ammonia or chemicals as that will damage the screens coating.
