The main issue with them is that you have to deal wtih that process at all - their cards have a well earned reputation for being generally hot and noisy, and hit and miss as to whether you get a good one or not.

They may be one of the highest volume AIBs for Nvidia, but I still won't buy one of their cards.
Its best to check reviews before you buy anyway. However,Etherium is starting to rebound so hopefully the price dip isn't a short term one!

Zotac are not good to deal with. By far the worst warranty process I've ever had to deal with I'd never buy them again. Outright refusing RMAs and trying to blame my harddrive of all things.

I really do hope they've improved recently for anyone purchasing their cards.

The total hashrate has been creeping back up again, but it is still a long way off the old peak and I don't really see it getting back that high.

?what? by impairing gamer cards abilities and removing 2nd hand markets by denying gamers access to ex-mining cards in the future? Yeah no. Especially when bigger miners seem able to buy chips direct from source by all accounts.

It's a rubbish situation that we can neutered products...but I'm just happy I've managed to order an LHR 3060Ti. Even if it's gimped (not that I'd ever mine but still).

Not really sadly, once ethereum goes pos after december or the difficulty bomb comes LHR cards will be the best ones for the long term due to full speed hashing on alternative algos.

On my airplane out of Shanghai the other day... Probably about 500 cards on that pallet, and we had 6 of them. MSI brand.

Re: Predictions on when GPUs will be back at RRP.

I want to get one now, almost went to CEX to get 2080. But now getting a new case, motherboard and psu and cabinet. Even with all that it's only about half the price of a GFX card.

    4090 price rumours are starting:

    (via https://www.pcgamer.com/im-not-buyin...-but-should-i/)

Might be someone testing the waters to see how much they can get away it.

Because I'm worth it gamers might buy even that those prices. (I imagine ETH will finally have gone PoS by then, so only gamers.)

That looks like a prediction rather than a rumour (it even says prediction). We can do the same here, but it doesn't count for anything

Re: Predictions on when GPUs will be back at RRP.

The issue is they've seen how much gamers are willing to pay to complete with scalpers. So now it'll be the new normal to charge way more. Limited supply has helped that drive in the price.

Look a fuel as an example. Always goes up. Rarely back down.

Poor example - fuel really dropped in price a year or so ago. Data: https://www.gov.uk/government/statis...hly-statistics

Re: Predictions on when GPUs will be back at RRP.

From my point of view I could now get a 6600xt for less than I sold my vega56 for and it would be an upgrade.

But I don't feel the 6600xt is worth what is being charged and my R9 290 is still working well.
