    Re: AMD equivalent of GTX1080

I am uncertain whether it is worth the effort,as Apple is moving entirely to ARM based systems,so expect X86 support to be depreciated over the next few years!

    Re: AMD equivalent of GTX1080

If I were you, I'd just build a gaming system around the GTX 1080 you have. Grab a Coolermaster NR200 SFF case, which can be had in white from Amazon for £90:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Mast...382468002&th=1

Buy an additional 2 no. 120mm Arctic Cooler P12 Slim PWM PST fans here:

    https://www.scan.co.uk/products/120m...ring-black-4-p

Case comes with 2 stock fans for the top (exhaust), fit the P12 slims at the bottm as intake, £100 all in with 4 case fans.

Just check the GTX1080 you have will fit in the case (all but the largest cards will generally fit)

I have a H170 Asus Prime motherboard + i5 6500 CPU + 16Gb Crucial RAM I can do for £100 posted, and a SFF Corsair SF450 PSU I can do for £45 (which should be ample for a GTX1080), TechPowerUp recommend a 450W PSU, as it only consumes 180W:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-spec...gtx-1080.c2839

So total cost would be £245 with that + Storage (Corsair Refurbished MP510 480Gb NVME can be had for £40 on Scan) + CPU Cooler (£35 budget)

Would therefore be around £320 total cost.

Not going to win any performance awards, but should still be fine for all but the most demanding games.

PM me if there's any interest.

    Thanks Cat

Thanks cptwhite, yes I am actually planning on breaking down my system. Was just trying to find a way of using my graphics card

Also,if you really want to use the GTX1080 with the iMac,I would just dual boot it with Windows or Linux. Linux especially with Valve Proton and Lutris,is probably much better supported than Mac OS AFAIK!

Yeah was thinking of using bootcamp or parallels. Its just these stupid external enclosures that so expensive, makes something relatively cheap(as I already have the card) pretty damn expensive to be honest

I always wondered that once you bothered to have an external GPU enclosure, why not stick and ITX board in it and that's the machine. Never seen the point in the things.

Managed to pick up a second hand egpu enclosure for £70 so going to keep the 1080. Apparently there are ways to make it work with the mac.
