Basic GPU to power 4K 60Hz

As per my recent thread my wife has received an upgraded SFF unit for the home office - it doesn't need to be too fancy, and is running an i5-6500, 16Gb DDR3L 1600 in a Silverstone Milo ML05

The PC is running great, except it is limited to 4K 30Hz. I have HMDI or DP out on the motherboard (ASUS h170i-PLUS D3 WiFi ITX) which according to the manual, the DP should support 4K 60Hz:

...she was previously using a HDMI 2.0 cable from the GTX 1050 Ti LP in her previous Dell SFF without issue. This wasn't going to work with the new setup as the onboard HDMI didn't support 4K 60Hz output, so I purchased a Displayport 4K60 certified cable (believe it's DP1.4). However I was still limited to 4K 30Hz, so I suspected it was the onboard graphics that were the limiting factor and purchased a HD7570 1Gb Low Profile, as a cheap adapter to enable 4K 60Hz, but I'm still not able to output at 4K.

Edit: Just looking at the onboard GPU of the i5-6500, the HD Graphics 530, it too should support 4K 60Hz so there really shouldn't be a need for the GPU at all:

    https://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/...phics-530.html

Putting this aside though, I read online that someone had bought the 7570 as a cheap option to output 4K 60Hz, so I'm confused if that information is incorrect or if my issue lies elsewhere. I believe the 7570 is using DP1.2, so it should be possible to power 4K 60Hz?

This is the original thread I mentioned earlier:

If I can't get it to work, then I might be forced to look for a more modern single slot, low profile GPU, so I'd be interested in suggestions on the AMD side. For Nvidia I'd need to stick to a Gigabyte/Zotac GT1030 with active fan (these are single slot, unlike the passive MSI variant).

Edit: Just wondering if it's the cable, I've just assumed it's going to support 40K 60Hz as it's specified too, but I'll try a 2nd cable when I get home!

I would try a better cable. Many cables apparently are not upto spec AFAIK.

Re: Basic GPU to power 4K 60Hz

Have you tried switching between the RGB full/limited and ycbcr and various chroma sub-sampling options to see if it works?

If you're not getting the 4K60 option at all there's obviously a hard limit or handshake issue going on. If you are getting 4K60 option but the picture is dropping out then that would suggest a cable issue.

CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
