Apparently, there is 'almost' 1000 cards available in the UK at MSRP at launch, no doubt they have more sat just behind them that will then appear at the pre-scalped prices of £399 at least, given that 6500XT's are £330....

jesus that's awful. Is it 2pm tomorrow? guess I'll have to keep an eye on the usual places to see if I can grab one.

Just spotted that the Sapphire Pulse RX 6500XT has been reduced on OCUK from £224.99 to ££199.99 - they've been in stock for over a week, I guess they aren't sell well. Is this a sign that rediculous GPU pricing has had it's peak....

    Re: RTX3050 review thread

From reading what Gibbo on OCUK has said re the sales of the 6500XT cards and his "6500XT is a sub £200 card and the 3050 a sub £300 card all day" or words to that effect, comment we might be looking at some sort of light at the end of the tunnel for lower end (1080) systems, hopefully, that'll then drag the rest of the market, the 3060Ti for instance at MSRP is a stonking card, but there's going to be a big gap between the 3050 and the 3060Ti, so expect something to sit in that bracket in the next few months, IMHO..

But would you have called any x60 / x600 class card great value at nearly £400 a few years ago? This shortage has moved everyone's perception of "fair prices" way up.

    Re: RTX3050 review thread

The GTX 1060 6Gb released with an MSRP of $250 in 2016 - probably the best value for money card released in the last 10 years. In today's monday, assuming 3% inflation per year, that would be $300 in today's money. A 3060 Ti @ $399 is overpriced in comparison to the best value GPU released in years, but given the upward price trend of technology, I still feel the £369 price I paid was a good deal, probably the last good deal there has been in the last 18 months.

15 months after I bought the 3060 Ti, I can now get something with about 58% the performance (source: TechPowerUp here) for about 65% of the price (assuming I can get one for £239). Terrible really, but it will sell out no doubt.

The best value card since 2015 IMHO,is all those high end R9 290 cards going for as low as £170~£180:
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sap...at-ccl-2229030
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sap...at-ccl-2220714
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/xfx...-deals-2218328
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sap...-deals-2218043

The R9 390 was basically an R9 290 with slightly higher clockspeeds,8GB of VRAM and from the start better coolers!

Also because the £ got devalued in 2016,the GTX1060 and RX480 sort of launched at similar prices to the GTX970/R9 290/R9 390. I still remember a mate getting one of the Powercolor PCS R9 390 8GB models for under £250 in 2015.

They are still using it today with a Ryzen 5 3600.

I was basing what I have paid for cards in the past, I paid ~£220 iirc for an R9-270x, then around the £280 mark for my RX580, so given I got my 3060Ti-FE for MSRP, if you look at the performance difference based on what I paid for my previous cards....
    Get me?

It's proven to be now, but at the time it felt very steep to pay that much for such a small chip!

Or a sign that card in particular doesn't have the chops for gaming or mining and so isn't worth the cost.

Apparently once they sold out at £180 it went to £225 but demand suffered so sorted something with the manufacturer to get them "down" to £199
