    RX 6800 Safe temps?

Just bought a XFX SWFT 319 Speedster RX 6800...
It's in a SAMA IM01A case, is 77C peak at 300+ fps in COD MW3 ok? The hotspot IIRC is 86-90.

Just wondering if I 'need' to add a couple of fans blowing into it?

    Thanks!

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

77c is perfectly fine! But if you have room for more fans in the correct configuration it all helps.
AMD spoke about high temps for the 5700 and this should still be valid for the 6800.

Thanks guys! I was hoping that was the case (no pun intended haha) having seen what people say about the 6xxx series!

I could fit 2 fans underneath it, but my MITX only has 1 case fan header, which is using 2 for the top, and I just run 3 pins, if I got a controller I heard they all have to be pwm? Only just bought the fans so I'm not up for changing them and adding a controller, I just have 2 120mm's in the roof exhausting the PA120SE off my 5700X

    Re: RX 6800 Safe temps?

I have the NZXT H6 Flow.

It has 2 x 140mm fans blowing directly onto the graphics card.

I do a lot of rendering (GPU based) and the card never really gets that hot. Its a good case.

I use PWM fans so I can control each fan speed with a fan curve. Keeps it nice and quiet and will adjust the fan speed as the temps warm up.

A great fan control software is Fan Control - https://getfancontrol.com/

I'm hoping I can leave it as it is, only used for gaming Hotspot goes to 90 max, that still ok?

    Re: RX 6800 Safe temps?

Glad you got one too, I hadn't really been paying attention to temps so testing now with furmark.

As it is I have messed with the power tables and undervolted to get higher clocks, so power draw is 250w on full power.

It appears I have hit saturation at 65-66 gpu and 79-80 hotspot with fan at 2070-2080rpm.

My case is thermaltake Level 10 GT, so plenty of breathing space and and a 20cm fan on the side pointing straight at it.

    Re: RX 6800 Safe temps?

As it is the last post got me thinking so pushed the wattage to 276w, temps remained the same with a fan at 2500rpm.

    Average clock 2395mhz

Can you export that profile and save it, then set it back to stock everything and tell me what the temps are please, as that doesn't help me for reference against stock haha! So I can't do much with that information

    Re: RX 6800 Safe temps?

Stock, its has stabilised at 79 gpu and 89 hotspot with a 900rpm fan speed, power 203w.

My profile won't work has I have modded the power tables using mpt.

Generally lower just lower your voltage, I have got mine down to 905mv, I would start at 950, the lower it goes the more it will boost.

But overall in my case I get similar temps whatever I do and its just how fast the fans are running to keep temps down.

Thanks mate, oh I wasn't after your profile, I just meant if you do that, you can import it back again and return to your OC/UV after telling me what it did stock

What type of case/cooling have you got?

I've got a SAMA IM01A with only top exhausts above a PA120SE, nothing else, so if you're running a mid or bigger case with proper airflow, and matching my temps, then I'm VERY happy, mine runs around 808-850rpm at the same temps on stock settings, I could undervolt it, but I don't see the point in this situation if it's happy and matching yours in what I'm hoping is a better cooled bigger case?

Thermaltake Level 10 GT, so big case with 20cm fan points at gpu area.

The undervolt mentioned will just give more performance while using the same power and heat not energy saving or temp reducing.

Nice, so the fact that I only have the 2 top exhausts above the CPU in the roof, in a mitx/matx friendly 23.9L case, matching those temps, means that the GPU HSF is really doing a good job then and I've nothing to worry about

    Cheers for that!
