Monitor Guru's?

I have an "Iiyama Vision Master Pro 21" (21") monitor, however the screen will not turn on.

it makes a constant clicking noise for about 10 seconds then goes into standby.. for example click*click*click*.. you get the picture.

Like most monitors "click in" when powered up.. im wondering if theres a part inside the monitor that does this particular job, or am I talking garbage?

It'd be a great help if I could find out what the problem was, Im going to take it to be repaired if possible.

Any ideas?

try unpluging it from ur gfx card, mine and most other monitors show a no signal error screen.. if it does that, then u know its not compleatly buggered

clicking could be caused by a number of things, im not sure which though... i think its related to powering the CRT tube (needs 1.5kv at very low current), mine if i turn it on and off and on quickly it wont click on the second on - might mean theres enuf power in a capacitor from last time or something.... doubt uve got a problem with the insides though, if u did ull need to get it repaired by some 1 that does it profesionaly, monirots arnt simple things..

clicking usualy happens when its chaning res/changing the sync or something... if theres no signal (or wrong signal) it might click continusly...

(i know very little about how crt's acctually work - shoulda paid attention last week in electronics, as we were learning about how they work in ociliscopes, so im just guesisng here)

The relays for the monitor's switching circuit could be damaged, or indeed any part of the circuit. Or it could be the graphics card feeding a naff signal.

Try the monitor on a different PC, or a different monitor on the Graphics card?

A different monitor (15" Old dell..) works on the graphics card (on-board SiS :S)

Would the relays be a simple repair/replacement for a monitor repair bloke?

I would have thought so. I'm not saying it's definately that though, just that it could be. Take it to a computer shop or somewhere and ask them to look at it. And let me know the outcome
