Mmmmmtasty
Apparently it was a non-functional prototype at that point in time, but it's certainly an interesting idea MmmmmFPS

THis has been discussed heavily on hardocp, that is a photoshopped card.
It aint even got memory for the 2nd gpu and also the chip you can see on the left with no heat sink say's ATI Rage theatre on it, these are only on the 8500 based cards for hardware DVD playback.
THats a photoshopped 8500 sorry to disappoint ya

Erm, no it isn't..

Its a fake look at the card mofo, 9800's dont have the rage theatre chips on them. THe 2nd gpu doesnt have memory for it. Its photoshopped get over it
I have to say then that's the best photoshop job I've ever seen then..
The light direction and reflection is consistant throughout the entire picture, there's *zero* evidence of any cloning work, the reflection on the bottom of the glass cabinet is perfect, and the shadowing is perfect throughout the picture..
The article specifically said that it was a non-working prototype, eg a mockup of what such a card *could* look like.
Besides all that, your tone isn't appreciated, and I do not believe I have anything to "get over" as I was merely reporting a news story.

quite.
For those with a genuine interest in the story, theinquirer have covered it in their Computex 2003 coverage:

It's not a photocop - It's about as real as your house keys! According to some sources, it's a 10-layer board - which makes it very, very expensive. Also, it's prototype and, surprise, it doesn't work because there's no drivers from ATi... Computex is a great place for hardware manufacturers to show off what they've been thinking. Lots of stuff in there are in 'alpha' or prototype stages, which means lots of these will never see the light of day in the retail market.

It does look like a photoshop though.
I mean why the 2 Audio adapters on the board?
the 2nd heatsink looks off, and each GPU should have (going on every other dual gpu design) ram allocated to it in symmetrical arrays.
Also i dont get the LEDs display, but spose it has a purpose. Im not sure if that rage theatre chip does look like the new or old or theyve just stuff it on for show. As you said its a non working sample so i seriously doubt theyd fill it with expensive stuff. Mebbe its just a piss take to show what they could possibly do?
I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!
Just becuase it is highlighted at Enq does not mean it is 'real'
Looks interesting and if it is a proto than it certainly seems cool, but it would be hard to make and well expensive, besides a couple fo generation of new ATI/Nv offereings would outperform it in the future...
Seems like publicity stunt type do to me
Peace all
Also why would a top spec graphics card have a phono out connector on the end and whats the firewire connector for.
DOnt care if its on the inquirer, never really valued what they had to say anyway.
Still think its a photoshop. Look at black wire on the 2nd gpu it appears to go straight thru the heatsink on the memory. hmmm strange.

I never said it was any sort of production card, or even a working sample.. For a prototype or even a mock-up card it is quite conceivable that it would have a whole bunch of odd connectors etc used for diagnostic purposes.
Even if it's just a mock-up to give the industry a bit of thought provoking for possible next-gen designs etc, it's still an intruiging idea, as there have been multi-gpu cards in the past..
