    6600GT OC'ing! - Still not a clue?

Started playing around with the auto overclocking feature with my XFX 6600GT PCI-E. Ive set it on auto and it seems to work fine, i was jsut wondering how hot I should let it get?

The 'core slowdown threshold is 127'c ARR! Seems a Bit OTT to me. Dont fancy that kinda heat im my case.

Also does any one have this card oc'ed if so what setting are you using.

Reading Custom PC they made 3 different machines (Pentium, AMD64 and Celeron) with three of those graphics cards. They managed to push one 84% faster than stock speed.

    Have fun

Edit: My bad, they had a water cooling kit in each, with a VGA block, so it wasnt air cooled

Edit 2: They had the stock 6600 not 6600GT, my bad again, please ignore this post as if it never existed

Well I've seen some OC tests on XFX and got core clock speed from 500 MHz to 580 MHz, a 16% increase, and the memory 500 MHz to 650 MHz, a 30% increase, thats on air though i've not tried it with mine that high since my 9800pro died after about a year of OC'

Dont scare me. Im not sure what the cards running at seen as the software is ocing it automaticaly. Reached 75'c Only 5 more that when it wasnt overclocked so i dont think that its doing it that much.. Got my 3D mark up a bit though.

IIRC GPUs can withstand much higher temps than CPUs for some reason or another.

Well mine idles at about 47C and thermal protection kicks in at 145C so i'm pretty sure you could take it to 100C + without much of a problem, highest i've had mines about 70ish though under load and overclocked, think i'd be scared if it got to 130!
