    "connect 3d" are they decent?

    hi

just wondering if any here can vouch for connect 3d as a decent supplier of radeons cards, ive just decided to upgrade my 9800pro to connect 3d,s x800xl (agp) and ive placed the order now but i cant seem to find much about them online to read up on.

can any1 give an oppinion on "connect 3d" as opposed to powercolour or sapphire for example please, also am i right in assuming "all x800 xl,s" are 16 pipe cards?

    thanx.

thnx for reply m8 im lookin 4ward to gettin it,hopin itle gimme quite a boost over me 9800pro from what ive read bout other brands of the same card.

any1 else got any feedback bout connect 3d,can any1 confirm if all x800xl,s are 16 pipe cards,i read there actually just underclocked x800 pros but then again it also said the pro,s were only 12 pipe cards, can any1 explain?

they are definately 16 pipe cards, they are not just the pros underclocked, its an entirely different core.

and yes connect3d are decent, i have an X800pro sitting here with 16 pipes and no trouble.

Conect3D make really good cards and come with excellent after sales service. Their cards also come with a 2 year warranty.

Just before christmas my Radeon 9600 Pro card gave up the ghost (Connect3D card), everything onscreen was corrupted to hell. Was about to chuck it and found the manual and noticed that it came with a 2 year warranty. I contacted the origional supplier but they wouldnt deal with it as the card was just over a year old. So I contacted Connect3D to see about getting it sorted.

A great guy called John Beasley dealt with my problem, first off he offered to send me packaging for the card to see if the origional supplier would take it back for warranty purposes (I had thrown the packaging out due to thinking the card only came with one year warranty), supplier still said no wont deal with it. So after much emailing and trying to get stuff sorted out in the end John told me to send the card to themselves and they would deal with it direct, around mid January this year a brand new Radeon 9600 Pro arrived on my doorstep.

Dont often get customer services like that so Connect3D will always get a big thumbs up from myself. Not forgetting a big thanks to John for his patience, help and support on my faulty part.

    micovwar,

if your 9800pro is an OEM card (i.e. came in a brown box with no flashy packaging) then as I understand it it's probably a Connect3D. I bought one from Aria a little over a year ago, it's a red PCB with the stock ATi cooler on it and I hear those ones are made by Connect3D (don't have any branding on them other than ATi).

    Perhaps Andrzej can confirm this?

Generally, the ONLY variation between cards that use the reference PCB is warantee, bundle, and how well they applied the thermal compound.

you'll certainly see a boost in 3D performance, the cpu upgrade will probably be noticable but not drastic. depends what you use the machine for, if it's a gaming rig then you'll feel the difference, if you use it as a PVR or something then a bit better but not massively so.

generally speaking they use about the same, they have a smaller manufacturing process (which means less v's are needed) but a higher clock speed (means more are needed). Generally however its the same, id say maybe a bit more but if your psu is ok now, it should be fine with a X800.

well my new card and processor arrived today and i have to say im pretty happy overall my 3dmark 2001se marks have jumped from 14500 upto 17500 (or there abouts) and my 3dmark 2003 score has jumped by a few thousand to from roughly 5500 to just over 9100,can any1 say if this is about right please?

i do have 1 query tho,my new processor v core (athlon xp3000) only has a voltage of 1.60v (i could sware my xp2500 was 1.65) but i noticed while monitoring temps with speedfan that just after benchmarking that the 1.60v sometimes goes as high as 1.64v then slowly comes back down to 1.60v soon after stopping the test and i never noticed this before on my 2500 is this normal?

    thanx.
