    ATI 9700 Pro 128MB

I am looking for a cheap bgrade or clearance agp graphics card that will let me play half life 2 on my pc with p4 3.0ghz and a gig of ram. I found the ATI 9700 Pro 128MB for £50. Has anyone had experience of these cards and will it be up to the job?

    Thanks

Yip, it would handle medium > high detail on HL2 The cards were/ are legendary overclockers in their day.

Thanks for the quick replies. Do you think I could find a better card for the money?

That's probably going to be the best you can get for the price. The next step up would be a 9800 Pro or 6600GT, which cost upwards of £100.

Definitely, if I saw a radeon 9700 for £50 I'd buy it with little hesitation. Certainly the best card you can hope to get for that price, I bought a 9700 non pro in the summer for £50 and it's still worth around that now.

yer the 9700 pro is still a good card and is great 4 that price

i used to play hl2 on a 9700 pro and the settings i used were 1024x768 detail set to high but no aa/af it still looked great and was smooth to play
