Question Graphics Cards The Old Question

I apologise this is one of the most common questions in the world:

    B]What Graphics Card Do I Get?[/B]

I have spent literally weeks wading through forums and review each one with conflicting information and wishy washy conclusions that make not decision.

I have Up to £300 to spend and I do not mind either Nvida or Radeon cards.

I play a wide range of games from Medieval Total War to Jedi Knight and at the moment planetside.

Please help before I go mad and

tbh m8 you really need to go with a radeon card as nvidia's recent cards have been very disapointing and with £300 to spend

Without a doubt go for a Radeon, as others have said the recent Geforce FX cards have suffered from major defects that cause performance shortfalls, only to be compensated with drivers that lower image quality.
Go for a 9800pro maybe even save a few more pennies and get the 256MB version

Undoubtedly the Radeon9800PRO, 256MB to really future proof, 128MB is more than fine however (no diffs in modern games) and should save you some cash on top. 9800 is very close in perf and can yield 9800PRO perf with an o/c. The only other sane choice would be a 9700 series as again these are very close to the 9800PRO esp when o/c'ed. The GF-FX are having problems and I doubt anything short of a complete redesign will solve them, they aren't bad as such (even if HL2 is indicative of DX9 gaming) but the Radeons are simply better in every way.

Sapphire are VERY well respected, the only manu most say is truly up there with BBA models. |SilentDeath| I believe all (or certainly most) 9800PRO come unlocked, it's only the lower models ATI want to prevent o/c'ing with ... that was certainly how it was for the 9500, 9500PRO and 9700 ... only the 9700PRO came unlocked there.
