Running any resolution shouldn't matter on a CRT as the pixels are allways square, it just misses ones in between (hence if you run 640*480 you can actually see the black bits between the pixels). So using a 4:3 resolution shouldn't matter.

    I run 1600*1200 + 1600*1200 + 1600*1200 and a switchable 800*450 from Svideo.

Doesn't matter if the pixels are square or not. The image the pixles make will often be distorted (depending on what exactly you are looking at) at non 4:3 resolutions.

In game onlky the 2d stuff will be affected. Crosshairs, hud, ect.

Ofcourse it all depends how well the game/program was made.

My dad has an lg tft with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 but he uses 1024 x 768. It annoys te hell out of me whenever I use it.
