Guess whose got a nice new video card...

A nice surprise today as my g/f returned from the states with a present for me... a nice x800xl agp aiw. As I dont watch tv on my PC (reception in my room is horrendous) I am not bothered about the NTSC tuner, and the fact that this baby is an underclocked x800xt made me very happy (less happy that I am wanting to go pci-e in the new future though but dont tell the missus)

    Anyways, heres a nice pic:

got it into my system, and booted it, a little fan noise but it quietened down very quickly (maybe temp sensitive?)

Anyway, started a nice overclock straight away put it to XT clocks (500/500) and its happy as larry, and it benched a very nice 5271 in 3Dmark05. Not bad as I have an Athlon XP 3000+!!!

Anyways, my only problem with it is that it is agp!! I wanted to go to PCI-E!! But still my g/f is now very popular!

btw, it has GC-16 ram chips which I believe are rated for 1200MHz. Gonna be fun. what are XT PE clocks again???

    XT-PE clocks are 520 core, 560 (1120 DDR) memory.

The fan runs at 100% speed untill you get into the OS and the drivers load. The driver control the fan speed based on load/temp. Without the drivers it should run at 100%.

My xt850 runs at full for about 1/2 seconds, then drops right down to the slow mode as soon as the BIOS kicks in.
Going from the BIOS to windows makes no difference in fan speed for me. Dont know if its only on newer models ?,

    That card looks very nice.

I thought it was on par with a 6800GT, yours gets around 600 more 3d marks than me

just remember this is not really an x800xl, its a x800XT core underclocked, and I o/c'ed to X800XT clocks for the 3dmark score

so basically its an x800xt vivo
