    1280 x 1024 should be a doddle.
What res/screen are you using now?
Sounds like a CRT, why not set it to that res to see how it goes? Even if it's soft or whatever you'll still get an idea of framerates.

I have never really tried above 1024x764...have i been losing out??

do you reckon pushing my cpu to 2.45 ghz which it is capable of will help a lot at that res seeing as my cpu is prob the bottleneck...

my system (all stock speeds) handles 1280x1024 fine, its when you start adding AA+AF you will see the frame rates dropping.

having said that I can usually have 2xAA 2xAF without any serious slowdown.

You are fine. Probably won't bebale to use alot of AA, but 1280x1024 will run perfectly fine in nearly all games with nearly any midrange card.

I've been using 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 since my softmodded 9500. I still use them with my 6800GT, just with more AA.

    My 6800Ultra only gives 12517 3DMark2001 marks.
    Curse that 133MHz FSB!
Time to build a new system around the gfx card I think!

So i'm guessing you have a 2400xp and a 6800ultra!!! Talk about bottlenecking!!

The stock 3dmark 2001 test is almost totally CPU/memory limited on any card past a 9800.
