He'd buy the cards... use them in a PCI-X slot instead of PCI-E and when the computer moaned to him about "hardware problems" he would then loan them to a scottish friend for a few months on the option to buy
As for 1024 Mb od SLI power. I wonder if Unreal 3 will run on these if they only do less than 20 FPS on normal 256 Mb cards in SLI

But 256mb cards run it fine, plus the game is hardly that great anyways.
