Question Graphics gone a bit doolally!

Switched on the comp today, and the graphics are all messed up.
Got a screenshot of it here
I've re-booted now, and the problem has gone away, but I'd just like to know if this is a one off, or could it be a sign my 9800 pro is on its way out?
    Cheers

    Looks bad.

Definatly take the card out, and reseat the cooler. Would be a good idea to clean the core well.. make sure no paste is around the package..

That's really odd... How long have you had the card?

    Usually means borked memory.

Since ive had my X800 (Last July) ive had the same happen about 4 times on boot up, dunno why. A re-boot made it go away, i have no idea what it was.

With you, if a re-boot, doesn't solve it, try different drivers, an cleaning card off dust, and stuff and re-sit.

I think the problem could be due to the fact one of the fans is on its way out. Will have a look at a new cooler for it soon. Ive had it for well over a year now. Its seems to be fine now, I've rebooted several times, and its fine each time. Very weird! Anyway cheers for the help people

Don't mess with the GPU heatsink. It's a memory thing. It might be worth it to clean the card up and re-seat it, and maybe reinstalling the AGP, DX9 and Radeon drivers just to be certain, but often that problem means your memory is hosed. Good luck.

Maybe something to do with the fact I downloaded the latest catalyst drivers from ATI yesterday. I'm certainly no expert, but I believe its more likely to be a software problem, due to the simple fact I was able to use the Print Screen and paste how it looked into paint. Surely, if it was a hardware problem, then the screenshot would look normal but just the video output would be screwed? Also, the black verticle stripes moved as I moved windows. If the problem occurs again, then I might try rolling back to the last ones I had.

    Thanks Again People!
