the answer is both Yes and No
I "had" this setup and I found the X50XT would fit in PCIE slots 1&2 however my fan failed so had to get another one and as there was none left in stock, I upgraded to the X50XTPE which didnt actually fit because of the northbridge mobo fan, I think there was an extra grommit on the artic cooler. I've heard other people say that they couldnt fit either card in though
It will fit in PCIE 2 but you will lose a normal PCI slot because of the size of the card and unless you change the jumpers this PCIE slot only runs a 2x instead of 16x so you will take a hit on performance, if you change the jumpers it both PCI E slots will run at 8x and that will be enough for this card.
Personally I dont think its worth the trouble, especially as other cards without the cooler will fit easily, I didnt think the card was all that good either for what you pay
just my 2 cents worth
