GBPVR is freeware and outside of MCE works best with the 550 imho.

    Wow,….

    That’s a really short list!!!

You don’t even have to take off your shoes to count them all

    ***edit***

What about the programs that halfway work with video but no audio or otherwise are not quite right?

Windows Movie Maker Version 5.1 (good video with no audio)

WinDVD Creator 2 Version 2.5B014.493C00 (good video with no audio)

MyDVD Version 5.x (badly interlaced video with no audio)

ATI MMC Version 9.03 (badly interlaced video with good audio)

Gemstar Guide Plus+ version same old v (badly interlaced video if you look closely at the small window with good audio)

I was able to get Guide Plus+ working with the T550P by installing all the software that one would install to get an AIW 9x00 series card working in MCE.

I hear ya,……dude,…..but I don’t think the age of this thread is a limiting factor with respect to the number of T550P supported apps.

I’d like to amend a previous statement I made:

Although the T550P can be made to work with Gemstar Guide Plus+ I’m not 100% sure I tested audio well enough to say that it (audio) worked well.

Therefore, I would like to invite all adventurous souls to give it a go (just don’t blame me if you bugger your system,…..mmmmmkay )

    What you will need:

    Theater 550 Pro card
    Kram MCE4.10kv.zip Mod pack
    ATI DAO / MDAC
    Gemstar Guide Plus+

I also installed MMC 9.03 before G+ (not sure if this had any effect)

    Shake, stir,…add ice and serve!

BTW, this may not work on systems that have an AIW card previously installed,….not really sure though,….

Originally I was working under the sadly mistaken assumption that the T550P would work with all versions of MMC if the above software was installed. Go ahead laugh and point,….get it out of your system,…

Naturally, I had forgotten that MMC or rather the MMC install program has a hardware detection algorithm that seems to install only the software components appropriate to the given hardware environment.

For example, if all you have is an ATI TV Wonder VE then you will not get such goodies as EasyLook and the vaunted DVD-decoder. However, if you install a qualifying Radeon card all is forgiven but you still don’t get niceties such as time shifting.

    Anyway,….

I’m guessing if one were able to use the MMC 9.03 hardware detection algorithm with newer versions of MMC,….it just might work,….

If this were to work, it isn’t very likely to work better then MMC 9.03 with respect to the T550P (if at all) unless ATI was secretly working to get MMC to work with the T550P,….in say an AIW+T550P hybrid.

But it could allow users to have their MMC+T550P cake and eat it too. It would also allow the user to enjoy the benefits of bug fixes.

This may not be at all easy though,…

Perhaps when ATI moves more definitively over to the Microsoft .NET Framework,… it will be easier,....

However, this is a purely academic discussion.

ChrisTV 4.7 pro has full support, with hardware encoded mpeg recording etc (full bitrate control, ...)

And this is the latest driver (23 nov 2005):
