if you're willing to stray to the ati side you can get a 9800 pro for £90, its a little slower than a 6600 gt but not by much.

I personally would go for a 9800 Pro over a 6600GT - the 9800 Pro doesn't seem to be that much slower, and is a fair bit cheaper. Plus, I prefer ATi because of their drivers.

Edit: Sorry, forgot you were going to use Linux - in that case, a 6600GT would be a better choice, assuming you're going to be using the 9800 Pro in Linux (rather than playing games or something else in Windows, and using Linux for other things that don't need a decent graphics card).

Edit 2: Sorry again, didn't realise I had already posted! I really need to pay more attention...

the 9800 pro seems like the more logical option to me, it'll play anything out at the moment, you say you're on linux so im wondering how much gaming you do?

I don't do much gaming (actually none at all) and spend 99% of my time on Linux.
However, there is a game coming out at the end of this month that I'm excited about and since I need a gfx upgrade, it gives me a good excuse to.

6800nu's are going for 6600GT money at the mo. the potential of them being unlockable is a definte plus over the 6600GT. I currently have a BFG 6600GT card though and its actually very good so i wont push you away from the 6600GT totally
